The General Dental Council (GDC) oversees Dentists and Dental Care Professionals (DCPs) in the UK. DCPs practice specific aspects of dental care. Overseas dentists can become DCPs to enhance their skills while preparing for exams like ORE or LDS. DCPs encompass various dental Care professionals , including:

– Dental Therapist

– Dental Hygienist

– Orthodontic Therapist

– Dental Technician

– Clinical Dental Technician

– Dental Nurse

-Pediatric Dentist:

Dental Therapist: Provides dental treatment directly to patients or under a dentist’s prescription.

– Dental Hygienist: Maintains oral health, treats periodontal disease, and promotes good oral hygiene practices.

Orthodontic Therapist: Performs orthodontic treatment under a dentist’s prescription.

Dental Technician: Creates dental devices as per dentist’s prescription and repairs dentures.

Clinical Dental Technician: Provides complete dentures and other devices as prescribed by dentists, also trained as dental technicians.

Dental Nurse: Offers clinical and administrative support to dental professionals and patients.

-Pediatric dentist: Also known as a pedodontist, specializes in providing dental care to children from infancy through adolescence. These dental professionals undergo additional training beyond dental school to address the unique oral health needs of children and teenagers. They are skilled in managing children’s dental anxiety and creating a positive and comfortable environment during dental visits.
